Out-Played but Rangers come out on top again?....

This week we have had some great weather in Scotland and we were hoping for an exciting game at New Douglas Park as bottom of the league Hamilton took on Rangers.

Rangers proceeded to start with the same eleven that starting against St Johnstone on Tuesday night and were immediately put on the back foot by the Accies who needed to get points today as they are 12 points adrift at the bottom of the SPL.

Hamilton opted to play the ball around as football should be played and on multiple occasions deserved a bit of luck but were unable to get anything from it as again they struggled to score goals.

They however did see an opportunity to score appear as Imrie's dribbling was causing problems, and the midfielder was bundled over by Steven Davis in the box with referee Alan Muir pointing to the spot.

It was Imrie who stepped up and knocked the penalty low but it was saved by Allan McGregor.

Rangers would have been looking wake up after this and Naismith's chipped ball found Lafferty but he volleyed straight at the keeper.

Veteran David Weir then provided the foundations for an easy tap in as he knocked a header over the goal but no one pounced on it as Rangers again weren't hitting top form.

It was the Accies turn for a tap in as they broke down the left side but a low cross was unable to be converted as MacDonald couldn't get a decent connection and was saved by McGregor.

As it looked like the sides would go in level at half time,Jelavic caused problems on the edge of the box and was brought down to earn his side a freekick. He stood up to take it and curled it into the top right hand corner for his 13th goal of the season. Not bad for someone who was out for nearly four months.

The second half began in the same way as the first, with Accies enjoying plenty of possession in their own half, but were unable to make anything of it as Rangers kept them controlled and there was no real chances to note as Rangers seemed content to sit on their lead and secure the 3 points. All three subs were used by both teams with none able to make a real impact and the game ended 1-0 to Rangers.
