Rangers Are The Champions.!

Rangers won 5-1 away at Kilmarnock to seal the Scottish Premier League title for the third consecutive year and give a perfect send off to departing manager Walter Smith.

The Gers knew just had to win to secure the title and set about their task and it took just 47 seconds when Steven Davis released Lafferty and he produced a wonderful chip with the inside of the foot to beat oncoming Kilmarnock keeper,Cammy Bell.

Rangers were on fire and just four minutes later, youngster Greg Wylde used his great pace to run down the wing and deliver a ball to Steven Naismith who turned and knocked the ball in against his former club.

The third goal of this early assault came in just seven minutes when Jelavic played a well weighted pass onto Kyle Lafferty to keep his cool and slot past the keeper.

Killie looked shocked and were often caught in possession during the first half while failing to create much.

Davis tried to increase the lead late in the first half but his effort hit the post.

Rangers flew out the traps in the second half and it just toook 4 minutes before the Gers had scored again,it was Jelavic who stepped up with a wonderful freekick from around 20 yards.

Kyle Lafferty finally got his hattrick in the 53rd minute when Steven Naismith unselfishly gave him the ball for the Ulsterman to slot home.

The hosts got a goal  of their own after 65 minutes when a freekick deflected off the American Edu,sending Keeper McGregor the wrong way and finding its way into the net.

The game drew to a close with a few chances for each side but there was no more goals.

So Rangers ran out 5-1 winners and it was a perfect send off for Walter Smith.

Rangers moved four points clear at the top of the table with an impressive win over Dundee United in Walter Smith's last Ibrox game as manager.

Nikica Jelavic headed home from 15 yards after a Steven Whittaker cross on 21 minutes in a fine Rangers start.

Kyle Lafferty doubled the Gers lead soon after with a nice finish after coming close hitting the post earlier.

The Gers often cut United apart with some excellent football but were unable to capitalise.

The visitors pushed forward in the second half and kept the pressure on Rangers and came closest when they hit the post late on.

Rangers v Hearts Review.

Rangers moved four points clear of Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premier League with an impressive display against Hearts.

New owner Craig Whyte was at the game and the unchanged Rangers squad seemed determined to put on a show for him.

Tricky Hearts winger,David Templeton  was his sides main man as he raced at the Rangers defence in the opening stages but was unable to make anything for his team.

Rangers made the breakthrough after 23 minutes. Davis spotted Jelavic free and The Croat's control and finish from a tight angle although keeper,MacDonald may have hoped to do better.

Ian Black's shot from 30 yards flew through the busy Rangers penalty box and was blocked by Allan McGregor who dived low to his right.

McGregor started the attack when he launches the ball out to Davis who continuted the move,An overlapping Steven Whittaker crossed the ball which was missed by everyone.Greg Wylde put the ball in from which Kyle Lafferty connected and fired home.

The third goal came when Maurice Edu won the ball in midfield and passed to Wylde on the left,He was too quick, for Hearts,David Obua and, once past the Ugandan, he clipped a cross that was deflected on to the head of Davis who knocked it past MacDonald.

Stephen Elliott replaced Templeton 12 minutes into the second half as Hearts' young striker pulled up with a hamstring injury which will probably end his season.

El-Hadji Diouf and Lee McCulloch, who just returned from injury took to the pitch as Jelavic and Edu were rested with 20 minutes to go.

The final game of the game came when Lafferty's shot from 18 yards was parried by MacDonald, who also palmed away Diouf's close-range follow-up.However, the Senegalese forward's second attempt was deflected past MacDonald by a Hearts player.

Final score- Rangers 4-0 Hearts.

Inverness v Celtic Match Report.

Celtic went into their game with Inverness at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium needing to avoid defeat to return to the top of the SPL.

It wasn't the start Celtic wanted as they found themselves behind in the seventh minute when striker Adam Rooney had his flick deflected past Fraser Forster by Hoops' defender Charlie Mulgrew.

The lead didn't last long however, just a minute later Celtic broke and when the ball came to Commons,he sent a drive from the edge of the box sailing past the helpless Ryan Esson.

Inverness kept going and nearly got their reward when Adam Rooney found himself one on one with Fraser Foster but was unable to convert.

The Highlanders managed to keep all Celtic chances to a minimum and when called into duty Ryan Esson was determined not to be beaten.

Inverness restored their lead in the 52nd minute with defender Munro scoring,Aaron Doran's corner from the right was only cleared to the edge of the box and Munro took a touch before sending the ball past Forster.

Celtic appeared stunned and in the 58th minute Daryl Murphy replaced Stokes as Lennon tried another route back in to the game.

It was Caley who went on to increase their lead when Celtic failed to clear a Doran free-kick properly,Rooney returned the ball into the box to find an unmarked Sutherland sent a low volley with his left foot past Forster and in off the post.

Esson was in fine form for Caley keeping out multiple Celtic chances.

In the second minute of added time Ross Tokely clumsily brought down Maloney in the box and Commons drove in the spot kick to give Celtic some hope.

Celtic had another penalty claim turned down seconds later by referee Stevie O'Reilly when McCourt went to ground inside a packed the box as he went past Munro.

So Celtic put the advantage back into Rangers hands with failing to win this game. Both teams have 3 games left.

Final score- Inverness 3-2 Celtic.

Congratulations to all who won awards!

St Mirren 0-1 Hamilton.

Mickael Antoine-Curier's second-half header against St Mirren gave Hamilton a Scottish Premier League lifeline.

St Mirren were down to 10men when the goal came just 16 minutes from full time after Antoine-Curier got up to connect with a Dougie Imre cross.

He could have had a second minutes later but it was saved by the St Mirren keeper.

Celtic left it late to add anymore goals as the third came with five to go when Kris Commons drove another home.

There was time for united to grab a goal in injury time when Russel got a consolation goal.
