Dundee United Trio To Leave.

Dundee United manager Peter Houston has resigned himself to losing midfielders Craig Conway, Prince Buaben and Morgaro Gomis at the end of the season.

"We know that they're leaving here," said Houston. "They've indicated from early on they want to move on and try something different.

"Craig Conway has been linked with a number of clubs and good luck to them if they all go."

Rangers are one of those linked with Conway, who joined United from Ayr United in 2006 and whose performances won him his first Scotland cap three years later.

Levein also signed Buaben during his spell in charge of United, securing the Ghanaian after he exited Ajax in July 2007, and the 23-year-old has since played more than 100 times for the club.

Rangers UEFA Hearing

Rangers have had their fans suspended from attendingvone European away games by UEFA after a report was filed by FARE.

"The UEFA control and disciplinary body meeting today in Nyon has confirmed the following sanctions against Rangers FC after the two legs against PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Europa League round of 16," a UEFA statement read.

Following a charge of discriminatory behaviour at the first leg match against PSV Eindhoven on March 10, 2011, Rangers FC have been fined €40,000 and the club is restricted from selling any tickets to its supporters for two away matches in UEFA club competitions (with the respective home clubs also not authorised to sell tickets to Rangers FC supporters).

The ban applies to Rangers next away match and is suspended for the second away match for a probationary period of three years.

UEFA also fined the Scottish club a further €40,000 and were banned for one home game which has been suspended for three years and will only come into place if they are up infront of another charge within this time.

Rangers chief executive Martin Bain responded on the club's official website: "We are bitterly disappointed that our club has been placed in a position where we are subjected to these kind of sanctions by UEFA. We will consider our position when we receive the written reasons for the decision which are expected in a week or so.

"The club put its own case very forcibly to UEFA and the more draconian sanctions that were recommended by the disciplinary inspector have been mitigated to a degree. To be clear, we condemn sectarianism and there is no doubt the mindless behaviour of an element of our support has exposed the club to a very serious situation. The people who engage in this type of behaviour are damaging the club they claim to support.

"It is abundantly clear from this decision that if there is any sectarian singing at future matches the suspended bans will take effect. Those fans who engage in such activity need to take that message on board. The majority of our fans understand the situation and would much rather focus on football. They show that clearly at Ibrox and the tremendous atmosphere they created at last weekend's Old Firm match was a case in point.

"In terms of the UEFA case brought against us, we have had serious concerns about the integrity of the evidence compiled by the FARE organisation and that remains the case. We are also of the opinion that FARE has been influenced by people who make it their business to damage our club in any way they can. We are committed to the eradication of sectarianism and believe it would have been more constructive for FARE to work with our club rather than against it.

"Instead, they submitted evidence to UEFA with a clear objective in mind and have shown a complete lack of transparency or accountability when asked for clarification on various aspects of that evidence."

I wonder if Rangers will appeal this and take it to a higher level of court where they might have a chance of winning.

Will Weiss Return To Rangers?

Loanee Vladimir Weiss was at Ibrox on Sunday to watch Rangers take on Celtic and later admitted he would love to return to Ibrox after he was able to play no part in the title run in with a broken foot.

"If it's not Rangers next year then I really want to come back at some stage in my career because the club is in my heart now."

Weiss sat with the fans on Sunday and had even managed to learn some songs during his time in Glasgow.

Joe Ledley Out Of The Title Race..

Celtic have confirmed midfielder Joe Ledley will miss the rest of the season because of a hamstring problem.

He had been absent from the club's match at Kilmarnock last Wednesday but the gamble to play him in the crunch game at Ibrox has appeared to have backfired on manager Neil Lennon who is lucky to have a few other options to choose from.

I mentioned that I thought Ledley pulled his hamstring on Sunday and it seems he has.

Rangers Takeover Nearly Complete?

Craig Whyte is back in pole position to complete a takeover of Rangers.

The independent committee of the Rangers board are close to sanctioning a sale, with Whyte's bid considered to be the best for the club.

The Scottish tycoon appeared to be on the verge of seizing control at Ibrox last week after agreeing a deal with majority shareholder Sir David Murray and main creditor Lloyds Banking Group.

That deal had been in the pipeline since November, with a distracting takeover saga having rumbled on for some considerable time.

Unfortunately for Whyte, his efforts to acquire the club hit a stumbling block when Rangers chairman Alastair Johnson raised doubts over the offer and revealed plans to explore a plan B, with director Paul Murray believed to be the man fronting a rival consortium.

However, further meetings have now been held between Whyte and the Gers board and it appears that he has been able to convince them of the merits of his bid.

Johnston said: "The committee are now much closer to viewing Craig Whyte's bid as the right one for Rangers."

I wonder how many times I've posted similar over the weeks, lets see if this one comes to life a bit in the next few days.

The Title Decider?...

A wonderful Sunday morning in Glasgow sets the stage for the final Old Firm tie of the season but will it be the title decider?....

A rather englarged police presence at the game set the scene outside as every turn had a gang of officers waiting for trouble but the game passed without major incidents it seems and it was a rather enjoyable game.

The game started at a great speed and the first call for referee Craig Thomson to make came after just seven minutes when Celtic's Joe Ledley clashed with Steven Whittaker but Thomson was having none of it.

Moments later, striker Kyle Lafferty nearly got on the end of a pass from fellow Northern Ireland international Steven Davis as Celtic keeper Fraser Forster and Charlie Mulgrew mixed each other up

Rangers Nikica Jelavic had set Maurice Edu's up but his shot from the edge of the box was deflected past for a corner as the hosts continued to pile on the pressure.

The home fans were then calling for a red card After Samaras pushed Rangers skipper David Weir to the ground inside penalty area but in the end both players were booked.

Hoops skipper Scott Brown sent a left-footed drive from 25 yards past McGregor's left-hand post while at the other end Steven Naismith's volley from 12 yards went wide of the target.

Rangers should have scored shortly after the restart when Gregg Wylde's cross from the left was met by Lafferty but he somehow headed past the post from six yards.

Ledley had to come off in the 54th minute holding his hamstring which could have been the tackle from Naismith or a pull but a freekick was given Celtic's way,Commons a suprise substitute came on to replace him.

Celtic went on the attack and McGregor had to make a great save from Majstorovic's close-range header to keep the game level.

In the 75th minute, the Rangers keeper made yet another great save, this time from Izaguirre's shot.

There was drama in the 81st minute when Celtic were awarded a penalty when substitute Stokes clashed with Davis inside the Rangers penalty area.

It was Samaras who stepped up to take it but was saved by McGregor who dived to his left to push the ball round the post.

There was time for Stokes to be booked for diving having gone to ground in the box after going past Rangers substitute John Fleck.

So the game finished 0-0,A fair result in the end and both teams know they can still go on to win the league but it is in Celtics hands as they are 1 point behind with a game in hand away to Inverness.

Have a good day all!

One For You British Tax Payers.

So when your house gets broken into or your car window gets smashed during the night you want to know who done it and them to be charged for the offence right? Yep thats right and this is something everyone wants, after all we all pay for it through taxes.

For the seventh time since August we are facing another Old Firm game and this game in particular the police increase their efforts,Through producing domestic abuse stats-which may not infact be true and now they have taken it to a whole new level with monitoring what people write online.

So there was a time when free speach was allowed in Britain yet this weekend the police will be knocking on doors of people who post football related hate comments on the internet. So now your taxes are going on petty comments made online instead of catching drugs dealers, rapists and murderers for instance.

Chief Constable Stephen House said he was deploying 1,000 extra officers. So its a bank holiday weekend in Scotland and most people will be off work on Monday yet the police will bring in an extra 1000 officers to try and keep the peace.I thought the police had a say in when Old Firm games were played these days...Thats a lot of overtime.

So are you happy for all this money being spent on a single game of football?

Or even my worldwide followers,If you were in a similar situation would you be happy with it?

Discuss...

Its The Weekend!

Saturday
Dundee Utd v Kilmarnock
Hearts v Motherwell

Sunday
Rangers v Celtic
Hibernian v St Mirren

Monday
Hamilton v Aberdeen
St Johnstone v Inverness CT

Lennon's Friday Press Conference.

Celtic's Neil Lennon believes that becoming the target for parcel bombs would not have happened had he been manager of any other football club.

Strathclyde Police are investigating after parcels were sent to Lennon and two others connected with Celtic.

"It leaves a bad taste in the mouth, but I'm totally committed to the club, the fans and the players," he said ahead of Sunday's Old Firm derby.

The Northern Irish Catholic stopped playing international football for his country in 2002 after a death threat, said to be from loyalist paramilitaries.

Bullets were sent to the former Celtic captain earlier in the season, while a suspicious package addressed to him was also intercepted.

"You get an opportunity to manage Celtic once in a lifetime," he added. "I would have regretted it the rest of my life if I hadn't taken it."

It seems Lennon is going to stay on but from what I understand he is on a 6-month rolling contract which is up at the end of the season and possibly may not be renewed if he fails to win the league...

Celtic Return Fire With A 4-0 Hammering Of Kilmarnock.

Celtic reduced Rangers' lead at the top of the league table to one point with an impressive victory at Kilmarnock.

They started as they meant to go on with just four minutes played when Izaguirre laid off to Hooper on the left, who then set up Commons on the edge of the box and the midfielder struck past Anssi Jaakkola in the Kilmarnock goal.

Silva tested keeper Fraser Forster in the 17th minute from a narrow angle on the left-hand side, but the keeper made an easy save as Killie failed to create many chances.

A scramble in the Killie goalmouth ended when Liam Kelly made a vital clearance near the half hour mark.

Commons slid in to win the ball from James Fowler then blasted in his second of the evening from 16 yards.

Hooper netted his 18th goal of the season, collecting from Stokes, before going past Killie defenders and firing in from the edge of the penalty area.

Stokes finally got his reward for his hard work during the game after 58 minutes to seal the game.
