The Edinburgh Derby.

Easter Road,Home of Hibernian.

It took a late goal from Stephen Elliott's to save a point for 10-man Hearts after an exciting derby against Hibernian.

Both sides threatened in a thrilling start before Ryan Stevenson's low drive gave Hearts a 24th-minute lead.

It took just 11 minutes for Hibs to get level and it saw Hearts have Marius Zaliukas sent off for a foul on Akpo Sodje from which Liam Miller scored the resulting 35th-minute penalty.

Both sides had plenty of chances to take the lead in the first half but neither were able to make them count and the next goal didnt come after a handful of chances and Hibs recent signing Ricardo Vaz Te prodded Hibs into a winning position with 10 minutes left.

With just 3 minutes to go it looked like the side from Leith would take all points Andy Webster headed Craig Thomson's free-kick into the six-yard box and Elliott was first to pounce and knock it into the net.

Hibs could have taken the lead after this but Two fine saves from MacDonald prevented Riordan and Matt Thornhill and the game finished level at 2-2.

This nearly rules out the chance of a fourth Edinburgh derby of the season as Hibs are seven points behind 6th place Motherwell and have a game in hand. Motherwell have two games to until the split to Hibs three.

The point keeps Hearts ten points ahead of fourth place Dundee Utd who have played a game less.

Going into the last few games before the split and its still all to play for from top to bottom of the league.
